UXUA and Despartar support new park

Trancoso is a thriving community growing outside the borders of its historic area.

The non-proffit organization Despertar, UXUA, and a multitude of volunteers are contributing in small ways to try to keep values of beauty and community in every area of town.

Just in time for Christmas a total facelift was given to one of the newer town-squares, the Independence Plaza (Praça da Independência), where a brightly-painted play pit for games, skating and wheeled toys, and new playground equipment fit among plants, trees, a fountain and a performance space.

This beautiful square gives children a colorful and safe place to play, while welcoming families to enjoy street food and cultural performances rooted in Bahian tradition.

In occasion of the reopening of the playground, many amateur artist and performers of Trancoso got together to commemorate the moment with traditional performances, including music, dance, and capoeira rituals.
