With the Atlantic rainforest containing some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet, and nearby Pataxó Indians (who gave UXUA its name) possessing ancient wisdom about the power plants, UXUA was in perfect position to develop for guests fresh, locally made, 100% natural bath and cosmetic products.
Using raw ingredients grown in the area, mixed by hand twice a week in a small, organic laboratory in the forest beside the Caraiva river (where UXUA guests are welcome to tour), the amenities arrive to the hotel within days of production, and now include:
- SOAPS – four varieties produced from a custom mix of local oils including Coconut, Dendê and Palm. Each bar is hand-packed in dried leaves from plants representing its main ingredient:
Alméscar – soap with moisturizing, disinfectant and healing properties, plus an absolutely distinct, musky scent (alméscar is native only to this area, and remains today one of the most prized natural ingredients for the Pataxó)
Coconut – soap with PH-balancing and nutrient properties and a nutty-sweet fragrance hinting of the tropics
Pitanga – soap with nutrient and moisturizing properties and a citric, invigorating aroma of tropical fruit
Aroeira – soap of pimenta rosa (pink pepper), with exfoliating and deep cleansing properties and intriguing, spicy fragrance
- FACIAL CREAM – containing a very concentrated base of fresh alméscar with its spectacular capacity to soften and rejuvenate skin (the Pataxó have used it for centuries to help speed the healing of wounds) and a totally natural scent, this is undoubtedly one of the most unique cosmetic amenities available in the world
- MASSAGE & BODY OIL – from a base of alméscar which acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent and blended here to a unique texture, an excellent oil for providing lasting skin moisture with a captivating scent
- 100% ORGANIC INSECT REPELLANT – with a base of alméscar mixed with cloves, citronella and patchouli, a natural repellant with fragrant qualities of a perfume and no chemical additives. Totally unique
