PRÓXIMA VIAGEM

A REDISCOVERED BAHIA
Trancoso was the first to be liked by many demanding travelers. Now you must explore Praia do Espelho, Caraíva e Corumbau, among other treasures in the bahian coast.

With a few exceptions, houses located in the ‘Quadrado’ no longer shelter natives. The houses’ forefront still remains in the village’s original style, but now is the new house for refined restaurants, boutiques and simple luxurious pousadas that only money can buy. The newest addition to those is UXUA, which is to open its doors this month, with rooms up to 300 sq meters, which belongs to the Dutch Wilbert Das, creative director of the Italian brand Diesel, the brand that sells jeans at such unbelievable prices.
A curious tale follows the life of this character. Laid on a beach chair, Wilbert saw a native walked by, selling hammocks and ironmongery. Thrilled, the Dutch shouted “The t-shirt, the t-shirt!”. At any cost, the man later found out that the talented designer wanted-and bought-his beat up t-shirt. Yes, we are referring to a smelly rag. Still, an enthusiastic Wilbert says it will be the inspiration for Diesel’s newest collection, which- as we know- will end up costing a fortune at Rua Oscar Freire, in São Paulo. For this reason, the natives don’t recognize the national currency. They prefer the dollar.
