PAU A PIQUE E SAPE

Idealized by the stylish Wilbert Das, UXUA Casa Hotel in Trancoso, joins rustic charm and tropical luxury. One of the most attractive bits of the Brazilian geography is turned to the sea. Between the footsteps that make delicate grooves on the fine sand of Trancoso beaches, where the hours are drawn in singular beat, UXUA appears as a fine hospitality house. After so long focusing his lenses to the Italian luxury and fashion industry of Diesel, Wilbert das surrounded himself of simplicity to develop one of the coolest enterprises in the south coast of Bahia. In a 5.5 thousand square meters, in the São João Batista Square, where it was a fisherman village, the Dutch stylist used the structure of 3 houses which stood through the years, to compose other 10 ones around the tropical garden. “Since I visited this town 5 years ago, I got delighted with the beauty of the colours and the natural resources”, remember Das. Part of the houses faces the center of town, the Quadrado, the complex which followed a mix between the chic and the casual and the naturist, keeping its static identity of the past years. To complete the project, local workers were hired to collaborate with traditional building techniques. Tow examples are the kitchen walls made of “pau a pique” a Pataxó Indian technique, and the furniture made of carved tree trunks. “We did not take a single plant from the ground”. This premise leaded the construction of 2 tree houses with branches that grow through the roof. In the suites, decoration brought some pats of modernity, like the king size beds and the air conditioning system, despite the showers, sinks and taps carved in wood or copper. Beyond the garden, the social area integrates library, bar, computers room, spa, gym, lounge and a green quartz swimming pool, which stone is believed to have healing powers. In the way to the river – only 10 minutes away from each other – it’s not a surprise that people come back with a absolute desire for life!
