Wilbert Das, Diesel´s creative director visited Trancoso in June of 2004 and was fully charmed by the beauty and the calmness of this village.

Going back to Bahia on his next vacation, he started searching for the perfect location to build his summer house and he found it in <<gulab mahal>>, a small house with a big garden with a view to Quadrato.

After starting the renovation he continued adding houses and guesthouses with services that a hotel can offer in order to host his business partners and friends who work for art design cinema and literature, as he considers that this tropical paradise in Brazil could inspire new ideas.

Every single house is different combining rustic with modern style and contrasts offering privacy and comfort, with hotspot the extraordinary atmosphere of three houses viewing Quadrato that were built in 1500.

All the building phase lasted 20 months and the local workers used traditional building methods and recycling materials.

UXUA {www.uxua.com.br}opened finally in January showing nine individual houses among the trees.

However it was open unofficially for guests since last August impressing everybody.

Although I am a Dutch orthologist for me Quardato has a magic power that I can only find here. It relaxes me and frees me from stress.
