UXUA Beach Lounge
It’s no question that Bahia = sun + sand + lush vegetation. UXUA brings life to that equation with its beachfront lounge called UXUA Praia Bar, a mere 5-minute walk from the Quadrado. Dine on creative Bahian specialties and sip on expertly mixed cocktails only a shell’s throw from the blue sea and soft sand of southern Bahia.
That’s not all. Guests with heartier fare in mind than a simple soak in the sun can test out the beach volleyball area, do a circuit at the open-air gym, or try their hand at capoeira training via the specially built platform for the traditional Brazilian martial art.
And naturally, UXUA cherishes its surroundings. That means the beach lounge - featuring vast, cushioned wooden sofas and flat-roofed pergolas - was built with the help of abandoned fishing boats which had previously languished on the site for years. Private bathrooms and showers, massage room, private dining patio, and Trancoso river dock (meant for UXUA’s exclusive use) were built while accommodating and protecting the nearby Atlantic mangrove.
A full 60 percent of UXUA’s seaside property is reserved for the use of some other very important guests: the area’s sea turtles. Opened in collaboration with the local fishermen’s association, the sea turtle sanctuary helps illustrate how serious UXUA is about upholding sustainable tourism and protecting local flora and fauna.
