During the annual Pataxó games hundreds of participants join in traditional sports such as bow and arrow, wrestling, axe throwing, races on land and water, and the always-popular canoe race. Native american dances are performed throughout the event with traditional cuisine served.
The Pataxó have lived in southern Bahia for centuries, and the native families of Trancoso descend from them. Several native reservations can still be visited within one hour of Trancoso, and the hotel’s décor features many elements created by Wilbert Das in partnership with Pataxó artisans, including pieces from the UXUA D.A.S. collection created on-site.
