Continuing a tradition started in 2007, UXUA’s support of the sport of capoiera will include hosting a demonstration by an estimated 400 players from around the world in the idyllic natural setting of Trancoso's Historic Quadrado. The event will take place during the International Biannual Congress of Capoeira Sul da Bahia, held July 24-29, 2018.
The demonstration will include testing for belts and also a special lunch hosted by UXUA for international mestres (capoeira masters) who'll exchange teaching tips, including Mestre Railson, Mestre Mao Branca, Mestre Som, Prof. Diney and others.
The congress, with various activities scheduled between Arial d'Ajuda and Trancoso, will also celebrate UNESCO's November 2014 recognition of the sport as an "intangible cultural heritage of humanity", a recognition UXUA and Capoeira Sul da Bahia have together lobbied for since 2007.
